Wine of the Woods is a deep maroon base with red-orange shimmer and red-orange flakes. Wine of the Woods was a plant-derived medicinal wine, made from natural ingredients gathered from the forest. It was marketed as a broad remedy for a wide range of conditions including indigestion, liver complaints, headaches, weakness, irregularities, and disturbances of the stomach and blood. Like many plant-based medicines of its time, it drew on the long tradition of using natural materials to restore balance within the body. Remedies like this were presented as powerful and restorative, capable of addressing specific illness and general debility. The forest itself was seen as an ancient source of cure.
